The transition from the hospital to home is made easy with a reliable and safe newborn pram. Maxi-Cosi prams are ideal for new parents of new parents, providing a comfortable, lie-flat space for the baby, and the ability to quickly transfer the baby from the car without waking them. Maxi-Cosi carrycots are deeply padded and offer a safe, secure environment for those crucial first months, often featuring ventilation and sun protection.
By choosing a complete Maxi-Cosi pram set or bundle, you ensure that every part—the chassis, carrycot, pushchair seat, and car seat adaptors - works together perfectly, giving you a smooth, stress-free start to parenthood.
How long can you use a Maxi-Cosi pram?
You can typically use the different components of a Maxi-Cosi pram system from birth up to approximately 4 years old.
The longevity of your pram purchase depends on the specific component being used:
-
Carrycot (Pram Mode): The lie-flat carrycot (pram) is safe and comfortable for newborns and can generally be used until the baby is approximately 6 months old or reaches the maximum weight limit (usually 9kg), or when they can sit up unaided.
-
Car Seat (Travel System Mode): Infant car seats used in a travel system are typically suitable up to 13kg (around 12-15 months).
-
Pushchair Seat (Toddler Mode): The main pushchair seat unit, which replaces the carrycot, is designed for long-term use, accommodating children up to 15kg or 22kg (depending on the model), which is usually around 4 years of age.
Therefore, the pram system as a whole is a long-term investment that adapts to your child's growth stages.
Do Maxi-Cosi car seats fit all prams?
No, Maxi-Cosi car seats do not fit all prams, but they are highly compatible and can fit many other brands using adaptors.
The assumption that all car seats fit all prams is a major buying blocker for parents mixing and matching brands. Here is the clarity you need:
-
Maxi Cosi Prams: When you buy a Maxi-Cosi pram set, a compatible Maxi-Cosi car seat (like the Pebble 360) will fit the chassis directly or using the dedicated adaptors included in the bundle.
-
Other Brands: Maxi-Cosi car seats are the most universally compatible car seats on the market. Most other major pushchair brands (like Bugaboo, iCandy, Mamas & Papas, etc.) design their chassis to accept a "Maxi-Cosi-style" car seat. You will usually need to purchase a specific pair of Maxi-Cosi adaptors for that particular pushchair brand.
-
Always Check: While cross-brand compatibility is high, you must always check the pushchair manufacturer’s list of approved car seats and confirm you have the correct adaptors for a safe fit.
